Good Day Deli

Hello hello!
I've been wanting to type this blog post since the first time I went there so I'm delightedddd to finally chat about my favourite place in Cork (in fact, probably my favourite place in Ireland!), Good Day Deli!

Good Day Deli is a sustainable foods deli situated in the gardens of Nano Nagle Place.
They serve "a mix of healthy, local, seasonal, organic and fair trade foods with a commitment to sustainability throughout our food chain." (Check out their website to find out more.)
Basically they're the dream.
You can find Good Day Deli in Nano Nagle Place on Douglas Street.
They're open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am to 5pm so if you're free definitely definitely definitely check them out!

Okay I know I sound like their no.1 fan but I just think everything Good Day Deli is doing is fantastic.
The menu is always changing whenever there's new food in season, and as much as possible it's organic and locally sourced from Ireland.
And I'm not joking when I say that I never got food that I didn't like there. No joke!
The food in Good Day Deli is out of this world, it's just divine. You can taste the freshness of the food from a mile away, and it's so clear that each dish is cooked and prepared with love.

I love the authenticity and transparency of GDD, it's so refreshing to see a place that actually cares about fresh good food, health, and the environment. The passion that they have for their work is so so cool and uplifting and it inspires me so much.
On the back of the menu you can find a list of all the sources of the food that they're using in the kitchen, they don't hide anything and I love the amount of effort that goes into finding local sources and supporting local businesses.
Even their aprons are locally sourced! (They're made by Enrich & Endure who make the most beautiful aprons everrrr, I've had my eye on their "Classic Turmeric" apron for a while so I think I might treat myself to that sometime!)

This might seem a bit random but the next time you're in GDD, definitely get something that comes with bread or that has bread in it because I'm not even joking it's the most amazing bread I've ever had ahaha, it's class!
Oooh and if they have any veggie burger on the menu then go for that because they're always divineeeee.

And they have West Cork Coffee which makes me love GDD even more.
Tony Speight (who started West Cork Coffee) is one of the coolest people I've ever met. His knowledge and passion about all-things-coffee-related is so so cool, and of course the coffee tastes amazing too!
Check out Tony's Chill Chats interview here (we did the interview in Good Day Deli!) and click here to check out West Cork Coffee's website.

Last month Good Day Deli and West Cork Coffee put on a talk about sustainability and the future of coffee which was so so interesting and really cool to hear people who inspire me so much talk about things that they're passionate about.
And it was my first time at a coffee cupping, which is basically where you slurp the coffee really loudly ahahaha.

In case you can't tell already, I'm in love with all things GDD!
Even the building is divine! There are big glass windows that have a class view onto the city, and the garden and areas surrounding the deli are amazing.
Nano Nagle Place is a gorgeous area to have a stroll around and relax in, and this might sound a bit weird but there are lovely walls there!
My favourite wall is there, it's a wall with all different shapes in all different colours and it's actually just class. And there are lovely brick walls around the place too, I know that sounds really weird but I like a nice wall!

And of course it goes without saying that everyone who is a part of the Good Day Deli team are all the soundest people ever. They always seem to put a smile on my face I don't know how they do it!
They're all so kind and funny and lovely and interesting and knowledgeable and amazing at what they do, like I'd actually listen to them talk all day!
The world would be a much better place if there were more people like the GDD crew!

I could talk for ages about how much I love Good Day Deli, but I don't want to annoy you ahaha so here are some more pictures...

So if I'm ever in town and you're wondering where I am, you can be 99% sure that I'll be in Good Day Deli! (The other 1% is if I'm really busy and don't have time for food, which is very rare, there should always be time for food ahaha!)

Click here to check out Good Day Deli's website, it's a really really gorgeous website, and you can find out more about their sustainable approach to food and you can learn about their whole ethos. It really is so inspiring, I wish everyone had a Good-Day-Deli-approach to life!
And make sure to check out GDD's FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Thank you thank you thank you to all the Good Day Deli team.
I actually can't thank ye enough for everything that ye're doing.
I wish more places were like ye!
Can't waaait to call in again sometime soon hopefully!
Big love,
Darragh
